Heidi
- Cosmetic Surgery
Heidi the patient is a retired scientist with a zest for life. She had NOT had any prior non-surgical treatments and now felt that her appearance was not a fair reflection of what she felt inside. A relative had had treatment at Cosmex and as a result Heidi had great faith in the clinic so that when we announced the clinic was now open for cosmetic surgery, she was the first to sign up to a consultation.
During her consultation with Reconstructive Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon Giovanni Ferrando her goals and the available options were discussed. It was agreed that the procedure she would go for was a relatively minor face lift and Giovanni recommended that this be done under local anaesthetic plus sedation.
Most people would be happy with the having sedation to keep them relaxed during the procedure but as mentioned above, Heidi is a scientist. Once Giovanni assured her that the local anaesthetic would eliminate any pain, she was adamant that she wanted to be fully aware of what was happening.
Since Heidi is in excellent physical health and due to her work, knew exactly what was involved, Giovanni agreed to perform the operation under local anaesthetic only.
Prior to the operation Heidi had a test for the presence of MRSA bacteria and an ECG. These were both OK and Giovanni was able to operate a few days later.
On the day of the operation, she was prepared and the actual operation took approximately 2 hours. As you will see from the video she was fully awake throughout. In the video she is clearly laughing and joking with the surgeon as he operates. Clearly she felt no pain but even so Heidi is a very unusual lady.
Following the operation Giovanni confirmed that her pulse and blood pressure had been completely stable throughout, confirming that Heidi had not felt stressed at any time.
